Serious explorer - Livingstone - link 1
“The existence of God and of a future life is everywhere recognized in Africa.”                                                                     -David Livingstone
"If our statesmen stop the frightful waste of human life in this region and mitigate the vast amount of human woe that accompanies it they will do good on the large scale and cause joy in Heaven” -David Livingstone

By the Opium War between China and British, Livingston was planned to be sent to the West Indies instead of being sent to China. Meanwhile, he met Robert Moffat who is a veterran missionary for Africa. They left to Africa. Livingstone got motivated by disharmony between African's missionaries and Natives of Africa. And that changed his life. He spent most of his life in Africa for exploration. During his life as a explorer, he first discovered Victoria Falls. Even though his exloration accelerated a dominance of the Western Powers, he contributed  to introduce Christianity, rights of human for Africans. He emerged as a hero, a martyr, an anti-slavery crusader to Africans. His documents can show how reality was terrible through his exploration.
It is kind of irony that he contributed for African rights which stimulated the Western Powers.

Like we need a leader to lead this world instead of being dominated by technologies, we need someone who can first comes up with serious reality. Although there is paradox of him and Henry Stanley, there was no progress before a starting poin for African. Even if his passion was a paltry amount of African rights, African beginning for Nationalism might have been losed.

Lost Letter deciphered - link 2
Livingstone wrote: "I am terribly knocked up but this is for your own eye only: In my second childhood [referring to his lack of teeth - several of which he extracted himself] a dreadful old fogie. Doubtful if I live to see you again."

While Livingstone was looking for a source of water supply of the Nile River, it is known as "a Lost Letter" which was well known as the letter for Livingstone to relive anxiety and appeal how dangerous a exploration was. However, the contents were not clear. He mainly wrote the condemnation of European who set up slave hunting and degenerated health. Although it is still a pending question how this letter was sent to England, it is still the useful primary source for the next generation to see how human society was developed.

The only one difference between Henry and Livingstone was that he got the nickname; Bula Matari (Breaker of Rocks). Compared to Livingstone, he was much violent. He sometimes massacred natives of Africa. He sometimes had slaves for him.
